School holidays in Sweden 2026-2027 – important to know!
During the school year in Sweden, there are five mandatory breaks: summer break, autumn break, Christmas break, sports break, and Easter break. Each municipality (and sometimes even the school!) sets their own dates. However, there are certain guidelines that most schools adhere to. Below are three basic rules that all schools adhere to:
Autumn break occurs during the 44th week of the school year. This means that in all regions, it will be held from October 26 to 30, 2026.
The sports and Easter holidays are one week long. Their dates must fall within the ranges specified in the tables.
Autumn, sports, and Easter holidays begin on Monday and end on Friday. Children rest from the Saturday before the break until the Sunday after it ends.
