In this publication, we’ll briefly and to the point address the school holidays in Poland 2026-2027. You’ll learn all the necessary information about how the academic year is organized in Polish schools, including the dates of summer, Christmas, winter, and spring (Easter) holidays, as well as additional non-school days. We’ll also explain how many days off each school can provide.
School holidays 2026-2027 in Poland – IMPORTANT to know!
There are four types of school holidays in the country: summer break, Christmas break (winter holiday break), winter break, and spring or Easter break (spring holiday break). Additional days off may be added.
IMPORTANT! In schools in the Republic of Poland, principals may establish “principal’s vacations.” These may be up to 8 additional days off for elementary schools and up to 10 days off for secondary schools. The dates of “principal’s vacations” must be published by September 30 of the current school year.
In addition to school holidays, Polish children enjoy “free days.” However, not all public holidays are non-working or non-school days. At the end of this article, you’ll find tables of school closures and explanations.
IMPORTANT! This publication presents the 2026-2027 school holidays in Poland in accordance with Polish law (Notification of the Minister of Education and Science of May 31, 2023, link at the end of the article). However, due to the difficult military and political situation in the world (and in Europe in particular), the school year schedule may be subject to change. Adjustments may be made at the national level, at the voivodeship level, at the level of individual municipalities, and at the school level.
School holidays in Poland 2026 (second half of the 2025/26 academic year)
Below are the dates of school holidays in Poland for the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year.
Winter holidays in Poland in 2026 (always from Monday to Sunday):
January 19 – February 1, 2026 – winter holidays (Masovian Voivodeship, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Podlaskie Voivodeship, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship).
2–15 February 2026 – winter holidays (Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Łódź Voivodeship, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Opole Voivodeship).
February 16 – March 1, 2026 – winter holidays (Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Lublin Voivodeship, Greater Poland Voivodeship, Lubusz Voivodeship, Silesian Voivodeship).
- April 2 (Thursday) – April 7 (Tuesday) 2026 – Spring holiday break (spring break, Easter break).
- June 27 (Saturday) – August 31 (Monday) 2026 – Summer holidays 2026.

18–31 January 2027 – winter holidays (Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Łódź Voivodeship, Opole Voivodeship, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Podlaskie Voivodeship, Silesian Voivodeship).
1–14 February 2027 – winter holidays (Lublin Voivodeship, Masovian Voivodeship, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship).

Additional non-school days in Poland in 2026-2027
In Poland, public holidays are sometimes working days. Conversely, non-working days are not always public holidays. Below are the dates of additional days off for holidays in Poland in 2026 and 2027. Some of these fall during Polish school holidays, but we’ve included their dates as well. In the footnote, we indicate which Polish school holidays the holiday falls on in 2026-2027.
IMPORTANT! If a public holiday falls on a Saturday, the employer must provide a compensatory day off on another day of the week. This means the principal can decide to grant an additional day off for students and teachers.
