School holidays in the Czech Republic 2026 (second half of the 2025-26 academic year)
Below is a list of school holidays in the Czech Republic for the second half of the 2025/26 academic year. Please note that these dates are based on official information. School holiday dates are regulated by Education Act No. 561/2004.
IMPORTANT! Please note that in the Czech Republic, children attend school Monday through Friday. Schools are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Students also do not attend classes on public holidays. This is taken into account in official data, but it may cause inconvenience for children and their parents when planning their school day.
- Half-year break (one-day vacation) – January 30 (Friday) 2026.
- Spring Break 2026 runs from Monday, February 2nd, to Sunday, March 15th, 2026. See the exact dates below!
- Easter holidays are April 2 (Thursday), 2026.
- Summer holidays 2026 – from July 1 (Wednesday) to August 31 (Monday) 2026.
IMPORTANT! In the Czech Republic, there are “principal’s holidays.” These are five additional days of vacation each school year. The dates are set and adjusted by the school principal. Please check with your school for more information.

Public holidays in the Czech Republic in the second half of the 2025/26 academic year
School holidays in the Czech Republic are structured to include many public holidays. For clarity, however, we provide a complete list of such days.
Public holidays 2026
- January 1 (Thursday) 2026 – Day of the Restoration of the Independent Czech State. New Year.
- April 3 (Friday) 2026 – Good Friday.
- April 6 (Monday) 2026 – Easter Monday.
- May 1 (Friday) 2026 — Labor Day.
- May 8 (Friday) 2026 – Victory Day.
School holidays in the Czech Republic 2026-2027
Below are the dates for school holidays in the Czech Republic for 2026-2027. As in other years, this academic year schools may implement “principal’s holidays.” These are five days off, the dates of which are determined by the school administration.
IMPORTANT! Children in the Czech Republic take time off from school on public holidays. If these holidays are not part of regular school holidays, the government makes every effort to accommodate them. Here’s an example:
Officially, the autumn school holidays in the Czech Republic for 2026/27 last two days: October 29 and 30 (Thursday and Friday). However, October 28 is a public holiday (the Day of the Establishment of the Independent Czechoslovak State). October 31 and November 1 are Saturday and Sunday. Accordingly, children will have five days off: from Wednesday, October 28, to Sunday, November 1.
- Summer holidays 2026 – from July 1 (Wednesday) 2026 to August 31 (Monday) 2026.
- Autumn holidays – from October 29 (Thursday), 2026 to October 30 (Friday), 2026.
- Christmas holidays – from December 23 (Wednesday) 2026 to January 3 (Sunday) 2027.
- Half-year break (one-day vacation) January 29 (Friday), 2027.
- Spring Break – Depending on the school location, see below.
- Easter holidays are March 25 (Thursday), 2027.
- Summer holidays 2027 – from July 1 (Thursday) 2027 to August 31 (Tuesday) 2027
