Below is the 2025-2026 school holidays in Slovakia. Please note that spring break occurs at different times, depending on the school’s location. The information provided is as provided by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development, and Youth of the Slovak Republic.

IMPORTANT! Spring break officially begins on Monday and ends on Friday. However, you should also factor in the preceding and following weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Taking these days into account, spring school break in Slovakia in 2025-2026 officially lasts 5 days, but in reality, children get 9 days off.

  • Summer Break 2025: Monday, June 30 to Sunday, August 31, 2025.
  • Fall Break: Thursday, October 30 to Friday, October 31, 2025.
  • Christmas holidays: Monday, December 22, 2025 to Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
  • Half-year vacation: Sunday, February 2, 2025 (one day).

Spring school holidays in Slovakia 2025-2026

  • Bratislava Region, Nitra Region, Trnava Region: from Monday, February 16 to Friday, February 20, 2026.
  • Banská Bystrica Region, Žilina Region, Trenčín Region: from Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27, 2026.
  • Košice Region, Prešov Region: from Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6, 2026.

In addition to school holidays, children in Slovakia are given time off on public holidays and on holidays associated with other holidays. There will be 14 such days in 2025. In 2026, the number of school-free days in Slovakia decreased. In October 2025, the President signed the Third Consolidation Package. It stipulates that, as of 2026, the Day of the Fight for Freedom and Democracy (November 17) will permanently become a working day. Also in 2026 (and possibly in subsequent years), Epiphany (Three Kings’ Day, January 6) and Victory Day over Fascism (May 8) will be working days.
