School holidays in the Czech Republic 2025-2026

Below is a list of school holidays in the Czech Republic for the 2025-2026 academic year. Please note that these dates are based on official information. School holiday dates are regulated by Act No. 561/2004 (Education Act).

The dates for summer, autumn, Christmas, and Easter holidays are the same throughout the country. Spring school holidays in the Czech Republic in 2025-2026 last one week, running from February 2 to March 15. You can find the list of dates and regions below.

IMPORTANT! Please note that in the Czech Republic, children attend school Monday through Friday. Schools are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Students also do not attend classes on public holidays. Please keep this in mind!

For example, the autumn school holidays in the Czech Republic in 2025-2026 consist of two days: October 27 and 29 (Monday and Wednesday). However, October 28 is a public holiday (the Day of the Establishment of the Independent Czechoslovak State). October 25 and 26 are Saturday and Sunday. Accordingly, children will have five days off: from October 25 (Saturday) to October 29 (Wednesday).

  • Summer holidays 2025 – from June 28 (Saturday) to August 31 (Sunday) 2025.
  • Autumn holidays are October 27 (Monday) and October 29 (Wednesday), 2025.
  • Christmas holidays – from December 22 (Monday) 2025 to January 2 (Thursday) 2026.
  • Half-year break (one-day vacation) – January 30 (Friday) 2026.
  • Spring Break 2026 runs from Monday, February 2nd, to Sunday, March 15th, 2026. See the exact dates below!
  • Easter holidays are April 2 (Thursday), 2026.
  • Summer holidays 2026 – from July 1 (Wednesday) to August 31 (Monday) 2026.

IMPORTANT! In the Czech Republic, there are “principal’s holidays.” These are five additional days of vacation each school year. The dates are set and adjusted by the school principal. Please check with your school for more information.

Spring school holidays in the Czech Republic in 2026

  • From February 2 (Monday) to February 8 (Sunday) 2026 — Mladá Boleslav, Příbram, Tábor, Prachatice, Strakonice, Ústí nad Labem, Chomutov, Most, Jičín, Rychnov nad Kněžnou, Olomouc, Šumperk, Opava, Jeseník.

  • From February 16 (Monday) to February 22 (Sunday) 2026 — Prague 1–5, Blansko, Brno-city, Brno-selo, Břeclav, Hodonín, Vyškov, Znojmo, Domažlice, Tachov, Louny, Karviná.
  • From February 23 (Monday) to March 1 (Sunday) 2026 — Prague 6–10, Cheb, Karlovy Vary, Sokolov, Nymburk, Jindrichuv Hradec, Litoměřice, Děčín, Přerov, Frýdek-Místek.
  • From March 2 (Monday) to March 8 (Sunday), 2026 — Kroměříž, Uherské Hradiště, Vsetín, Zlín, Prague-east, Prague-west, Melník, Rakovník, Pilsen-city, Pilsen-north, Pilsen-south, Hradec Králové, Teplice, Nový Jičín.
