Below is a list of school holidays in Slovakia for the second half of the 2025/26 academic year. Please note that spring break dates vary! The dates depend on the school’s location. The information provided is as provided by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development, and Youth of the Slovak Republic.
IMPORTANT! Spring break officially begins on Monday and ends on Friday. You should take into account the previous and following weekends (Saturdays and Sundays ) . For example:
In 2026, spring school break in Slovakia officially lasts five days (Monday through Friday). However, schools are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Therefore, including weekends, children will have nine days off from school (Saturday through Sunday) .
- Christmas holidays: from December 22 (Monday) to January 7 (Wednesday) 2026.
- Half-year holidays: February 2 (Monday)
Spring school holidays in Slovakia in 2026:

Public holidays and non-working days in Slovakia in 2026
In addition to school holidays, children in Slovakia are entitled to rest on public holidays and non-working days. The number of such days varies depending on the year. According to the Transitional Provisions to the Amendments to the Law on Public Holidays, Non-Working Days, and Memorial Days:
- The Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy (November 17) becomes a working day forever.
- Epiphany (Three Kings, January 6) will be a working day in 2026.
- Victory Day over Fascism (May 8) will be a working day in 2026.
