Below are the school holidays in Belgium 2025-2026 for each language community. The dates are officially approved and published on the portals of the respective language communities and regions.

IMPORTANT! If the school you are interested in is located in Brussels, then check which language community it belongs to. It is best to check the information on the school’s website. The fact is that the capital of Belgium belongs to both the Flemish and French communities.

VERY IMPORTANT! Many people confuse regional and linguistic affiliation. School holidays in Belgium 2025-2026 are not tied to regions of the country. Their dates depend on the language community. Please do not forget about this when planning your vacation or travel!

School holidays in the Flemish Community 2025/26 (Flanders)

  • Summer holidays 2025 – from July 1 (Tuesday) 2025 to August 31 (Sunday) 2025.
  • Autumn holidays – from October 27 (Monday) 2025 to November 2 (Sunday) 2025.
  • Christmas holidays – from December 22 (Monday) 2025 to January 4 (Sunday) 2026.
  • Crocus holidays – from February 16 (Monday) 2026 to February 22 (Sunday) 2026.
  • Easter holidays – from April 6 (Monday) 2026 to April 19 (Sunday) 2026.
  • Summer holidays 2026 – from July 1 (Wednesday) 2026 to August 31 (Monday) 2026.

IMPORTANT!   • Autumn holidays (All Saints’ Day) – from October 20 (Monday) 2025 to November 2 (Sunday) 2025.
  • Winter holidays (Christmas holidays) – from December 22 (Monday) 2025 to January 4 (Sunday) 2026.
  • Carnival holidays (days off) – from February 16 (Monday) 2026 to March 1 (Sunday) 2026.
  • Spring Break – April 27 (Monday), 2026 to May 10 (Sunday), 2026.
  • Summer holidays 2026 – from July 4 (Saturday) 2026.

A separate summer vacation schedule for those who receive secondary art education with a shortened period of study:

  • The start of the 2025 summer holidays for schools with a 37-week schedule is 5 July (Saturday) 2025.
  • Start of summer holidays 2025 for schools with 29-week and 33-week schedules – Between 31 May and 5 July 2025.
  • The last day of the 2025 summer holidays for schools with a 37-week schedule is 26 August (Tuesday) 2025.
  • Last day of summer holidays 2025 for schools with 29-week and 33-week schedules – Between 26 August and 14 September 2025.
  • The start of the 2026 summer holidays for schools with a 37-week schedule is 4 July (Saturday) 2026.
  • Start of summer holidays 2026 for schools with 29-week and 33-week schedules – Between 31 May and 4 July 2025.

School holidays in the German-speaking Community 2025/26

  • Summer holidays 2025 – from July 1 (Tuesday) 2025 to August 31 (Sunday) 2025.
  • All Saints’ Day Holiday (Autumn Break) – from 17 October (Friday) 2025 to 1 November (Saturday) 2025.
  • Christmas holidays – from December 22 (Monday) 2025 to January 3 (Saturday) 2026.
  • Carnival holidays – from February 16 (Monday) 2026 to February 21 (Saturday) 2026.
  • Easter holidays – from April 6 (Monday) 2026 to April 18 (Saturday) 2026.
  • Summer holidays 2026 – from July 1 (Wednesday) 2026.

IMPORTANT! Each school can establish two additional days without classes. No government approval is required for this. Check the dates of these days with your educational institution.

School holidays in Belgium in the 2025-2026 academic year

Flemish Community

  • Armistice Day is Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
  • Labor Day is Friday, May 1, 2026.
  • Ascension Day – Thursday, May 14, 2026.
  • Ascension (second day) – Friday, May 15, 2026 (except for correspondence art education).
  • Pentecost – Monday, May 25, 2026.

IMPORTANT! On Saturday and Sunday after Ascension, there may be classes for those receiving correspondence art education. There may also be classes for students in adult education centers.

French Community

  • French Community Day – Saturday, September 27, 2025.
  • Armistice Day 1918 – Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
